Merlin Mann hosts a preview and discussion of OmniFocus
I’m excited. My geek meter is going off the charts.
Merlin Mann, the ubergeek of organization, will be hosting a preview and discussion of OmniFocus. OmniFocus is a personal task management system currently under development at the OmniGroup (www.omnigroup.com).
The event is at TekServe in Manhattan on Sept. 27th @ 8:30. I’ll be attending and will report back with my thoughts on the software and impressions from meeting Merlin. Join me if you can.
I’ve been a long time fan of Merlin (www.merlinmann.com) and 43 Folders (www.43folders.com). Stay tuned.
UPDATE:
The event was a hit with a huge turnout. There was free food, drinks and BEER! The OmniGroup Really knows how to do it. Pictures and more after the link…
The OmniFocus Presentation hosted by Merlin Mann certainly didn’t disappoint. Along with the food, drinks, and beer, we enjoyed some great geek humor dished out by Merlin and as he presented the software.
First off: the software. OmniFocus is a GTD (Getting Things Done) based productivity app for the Mac. There are a couple other popular GTD applications out there including iGTD and kGTD but these are actually applescript add-ons for OmniGroups OmniOutliner Pro software. In partnership with Merlin Mann and other productivity software gurus, the OmniGroup is pooling everyones experience in developing OmniFocus.
My thoughts: OmniFocus is certainly the most thought out software based on the Getting Things Done (GTD) organization system. Features are still being added and removed but it certainly has the foundation to be a runaway success particularly as an additional piece in the OmniGroups Puzzle of
applications.
To see the software yourself, you can check it out here: OmniFocus. Since the software isn’t in public beta, i haven’t played with a copy, but I’m working on getting one. I’ll write more when I get my hands on a copy.
